{Intentionality} This December, I am aiming to be intentional - TopicsExpress

{Intentionality} This December, I am aiming to be intentional in my living and activity. Usually December comes at us, and right out of the gates were overwhelmed and frustrated with all that the month holds. (or am I alone??) December and into January are big months for us....we have Christmas, our anniversary on New Years Eve, exactly 2 weeks later my birthday and a week after, Johns birthday. Once we added children in, it became even more chaotic! But this year, I am truly hoping to not have a chaotic Christmas that comes and goes, where Ive not even remembered what the real meaning is of Christmas. Its pretty easy to do.....the to do lists, the gifts for my kids, hubby, family, teachers, friends, decorating the house oh-so perfectly, baking loads of cookies, wrapping beautifully said cookies to give to others or exchange in a cookie exchange, fit in a visit to Santa, visit Christmas Card Lane, on and on and on it goes!! This year Im starting my mornings with an advent book by She Reads Truth(shereadstruth). It was put together so well, its lovely. It comes with some art prints and recipes and such. We made a sugar cookie dough recipe from it yesterday. And we are ending our days by reading an Advent Book gifted to us by a sweet friend a couple years ago. Its super simple, with a big door each day that the kids can lift and it focuses on a part of Jesus birth. Then the kids get to open the chocolate advent calendar purchased from good old Trader Joes. My husband is intent on keeping gifts simple this year. He doesnt want the overwhelming sense of endless presents. I know a lot of people that do 3 gifts, kind of what the Magi did...or something wanted, needed and to read....all different ideas. That is my plan for Christmas this year. Any great tips or ideas out there for stream lining or making things easy or keeping kids from feeling entitled?? Id love to hear them!!
