Interesting thing I learned at church today. In the roman society adoption was considered a big thing. 3 things happened when you were adopted. 1) Your debts have been paid. 2) You take on the family name. 3) You could not be disowned once you were adopted. You could disown your own children, but you could not disown a child you were to adopt. As children of God we are saints, we are not sinners. We were adopted in, our debts have been paid, we could take on His name, and we could never be disowned.
