International-Grade Douchebaggery I found the airport - TopicsExpress

International-Grade Douchebaggery I found the airport experience a lot less stressful and unpleasant (if much more pricey) than I anticipated. Granted, its not holiday season, there isnt extreme weather and I went through the international and not domestic terminal, so surely it could have been worse. Going forward, I will have less anxiety about international air travel - but continue to avoid domestic like the plague. Not wanting trouble, I brought no food or drink from the outside, but sampled the horifically expensive fare at a number of restaurants. Fusion cuisine is cultureless but very sophisticated - I suppose we are fortunate to live in a place and time when food preparers have access to any and every sort of technique and ingredient from all the nations of the world. Although the TSA pats are dumb schlubs, the TSA manning the main checkpoint were cordial and well-groomed (which, in such a setting, counts for a lot). I liked that they wore traditional police blue and not black. Their attitude reminded me of my experience entering the Boston municipal administration tower. I visited a few years ago to get my MA state notary certificate (I still have it). I had an impression of experienced officers being polite and cordial because they are way too busy to be jerks, and no one wants trouble - just to get on with their day. And of course since both nobodies and somebodies have to pass through the same gate, service is oriented towards the latter. Of course, I was randomly selected for a patdown and scanner. The scan took all of six seconds and frankly I refuse to believe that machine does anything at all other than make a clique of contractors wealthy beyond avarice. I made a point of just barely, sub-audibly moaning as the TSA guy loosely patted me down - too loose to do any good, really. I mean, its all one big charade. Thank you, sir. Thanks... Hey, I lived in San Francisco for five years! Its no problem! Uh... hahahahaha....
