International Kadampa Summer Festival - Day 3 Gen-la Kunsang - TopicsExpress

International Kadampa Summer Festival - Day 3 Gen-la Kunsang today began her teaching on the Power of Kadam Lamrim. Lamrim means Stages of the Path, and is the main practice of Kadampa Buddhism. Gen-la Kunsang is basing her teachings on Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s recent book, How to Understand the Mind in which the stages of the path is presented in only 14 meditations. Each meditation is divided into three sections: the purpose, the object, and the actual meditation, designed to further clarify the practice. In particular, we find the object of meditation by contemplating the purpose, and then we transform our understanding into the actual meditation. Gen-la explained that Geshe Kelsang has said that each meditation is more precious than a diamond. She said she feels like she is opening up a big treasure chest and handing out precious diamonds from Geshe Kelsang’s heart. She said each meditation is like medicine for the mind, a rescue remedy. By taking each meditation to heart we purify our mind and gradually we come to experience everything in a pure way and abide in the Pure Land of Lamrim. During the sunlit break, many people could be seen enjoying brightly colored smoothies freshly blended at the Health Juice bar, while discussing the teachings. A beautiful environment, sharing wisdom and laughter with old and new friends, contemplative walks in the woods, and rescue remedies for the body and the mind. A Lamrim pure land indeed!
