International Programs of IUBAT — International University of Business Agriculture and Technology, organized a Seminar on “Regional Cooperation in Management Education: South Asian Experience,” today, at 02:30 PM, Thursday, May 15, 2014, at IUBAT Conference Hall (Room 235). Mr C. Ramakrishna, Executive Director, AMDISA (Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia), Hyderabad, India, was the keynote speaker on the topic of this seminar. Prof Dr M Alimullah Miyan, Founder Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT presided over the Seminar. Prof Iqbal Ahmad, Director, IBA, Dhaka University; Prof Dr Abdur Rab, VC, Eastern University; was also present in this seminar. Prof Iqbal Ahmad, Director, IBA, Dhaka University; Prof Dr Abdur Rab, VC, Eastern University; Prof Dr Hafiz G.A. Siddiqi, Professor Emeritus, BRAC University; Prof Dr Anwar Hossain, VC, Southeast University; Dr Mannan, ULAB; Prof Dr M Shamsul Haque, VC, Northern University; Prof Dr Shibli Rubaytul Islam, Dhaka University, and other dignitaries, had been invited to attend the seminar, but could not come due to unavoidable circumstances. Distinguished Directors, Chairs, Coordinators, Faculties, Staffs, and Students of different Colleges and Departments, especially of College of Business and Administrations of IUBAT attended the seminar. Mr C. Ramakrishna emphasized the meaning of ‘Regional Cooperation’ and the ‘Management Education’ in the perspective of South Asia. He mentioned that AMDISA (Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia), will do its best for the ‘faculty exchange’ in AMDISA countries. He also mentioned that Internationalization and ‘Higher Studies’ can play a milestone in our south Asian region. He elaborated AMSIA: regional cooperation with 213 members. He mentioned that SAARC is a formation through Bangladeshi Initiatives. He mentioned that through Internationalization, Management in South Asia should be excellent. He also discussed Internationalization vs Globalization: student mobility, faculty mobility: database, curriculum and teaching: internationalization, inter-vocational associates, convergence of Quality, cooperation Agreements, Accreditations: Perceived Quality, networking forum, heads of institutions can blend together. He noted that Bi annual forum on Management Development by robust and competitive institutions. Prof Iqbal Ahmad, Director, IBA, Dhaka University; and Prof Dr Abdur Rab, VC, Eastern University, delivered their speech. In their speech, they appreciated IUBAT’s effort to make this International seminar, a success, and IUBAT’s initiatives for Internationalization and ‘Higher Studies’. In presidential speech, Prof Dr M Alimullah Miyan, Founder Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT, mentioned that at present permanent campus of IUBAT is on 5.5 acres of land area with scenic beauty on the bank of river turag, provide a wide range of facility. He also mentioned that the concept of establishing a university was accelerated in March 1989 during his 3 week visit to Kansas State University, where research and consultation led to development of a paper incorporating the idea of Non-government University: IUBAT. He remembered his visit to Case Writing Workshop o0f AMDISA in Delhi, India; and AMDISA board meeting Conference in Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan. He informed everybody that IUBAT is a rendezvous of volunteers coming under the Teach in Bangladesh Program from different part of the worlds and IUBAT has number of Teachers from Canada, USA, and other parts of the world. Specially, College of Nursing inIUBAT is run by Canadian Volunteer Faculties. He focused that IUBAT does everything for Internationalization and encourage its faculties and students for ‘Higher Studies.’
