Interrupted Supper Rauf Mamedov. Presented in Rauf Mamedov’s exhibit in the space of the Frolov Gallery are the works of different years: Diptych “Annunciation” from the project “Seven Biblical Scenes” (1996-1997), 7), three polyptychs “the Last Supper” (1996-1997), “Games on the Window Sill” (2003), “Pieta” (2005), united in one trilogy, and also the nine-part “Supper at Emmaus” (2007). All these works have already been displayed individually multiple times in various exhibits, and all together in a large retrospective at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2011). But now Rauf Mamedov’s exhibit is especially relevant. On one hand, his work has already throughout many years turned to age-old themes and Bible stories. On the other hand, staying in the current context of postmodernism, it does not strive to be scandalous and provocative. It is outside of time.
