Invest in Short-Game Improvement Inbee Park won the LPGA - TopicsExpress

Invest in Short-Game Improvement Inbee Park won the LPGA Championship, and another Major, with a play-off hole victory. She defeated Brittany Lincicome, who took 3 to get down from the fringe exactly as she has done on the 18th from nearly the same position. On the play-off hole Park had overshot the green but chipped to 3 feet and sank the putt for her victory. The pressure Lincicome was under must have been intense, but she took 3 to get down twice from the fringe of the 18th. That isn’t good enough to win Majors. If you’re going to have a great round, you also have to accept you aren’t going to hit all the greens in your handicap regulation. You are going to find yourself on the fringe or over the back. What will make your round is the ability to get up and down from these situations. Manage that a couple of times early in your round and convert an opportunity for a net birdie and your round has momentum. It’s amazing how that momentum keeps you going. It takes years off your body’s age and adds a spring in your step. You swing with a better rhythm and find yourself playing better golf. Your short-game skills can make a big difference, not just to your scorecard, but to your whole demeanor. Whatever your skill level, ask yourself: how can I improve my short-game? Then invest in that improvement. It makes a difference. By the way, your equipment (Wedges and Golf Ball) do make a difference. Park plays Cleveland Wedges and a Srixon Z-STAR golf ball. But just as importantly, she will have invested in finding the Wedge configuration and fitting that supports her game the best, and then made sure she played with the Golf Ball that gave her the most greenside control. Don’t neglect your choice of Wedges and Golf Ball. See you at The River! The Pros at River Ridge riverridgegolfclub like and share will ya?
