Is a correct understanding of God (theology) important? Yes it is, - TopicsExpress

Is a correct understanding of God (theology) important? Yes it is, but not as important as the reality that it should bring about in the conduct of our everyday lives. Yes, misguided theology can lead you to think that God is all about blessing you and making you filthy rich and exceedingly healthy or that God is a celestial kill-joy full of legalism and gloom and doom. However, in the first instance, you do not need theology to do that, all you have to do is buy into material and self focused world around you or give in to the judgmental spirit and pessimistic spirit that lurks in each of us in the second. On the other hand, a correct understanding of God or theology will mean nothing if it does not result in a life lived out with love as our guideposts. Truth and justice as our mantra; grace, mercy, and forgiveness as our core values; holiness and purity as our identifying characteristics; and selfless empathy as our modus-operandi. Moreover, all wisdom and knowledge will be nothing more than empty proclamations and manifestos if these do not manifest themselves in action.
