While it wasn’t clear those crashes were caused by wearing flip-flops, “I’m sure they had something to do with the accident.” Pratt admitted that when he was young, he drove with flip-flops and got his toe stuck under the gas pedal. The mishap didn’t cause a crash, but he did skid to a somewhat embarrassing stop. Though it may be a hassle to change back into shoes after a long day at the beach or walking barefoot on a hot summer day, troopers say sturdy shoes provide a safety benefit.
