Is it God or Me Back in the 70’s Memorex started an advertising campaign featuring Ella Fitzgerald voice shattering glass. First she would sing a note shattering a glass while being recorded by Memorex. Then they played back the tape and broke another glass asking, “Is it live, or is it Memorex?” Judgment has come upon the people of Israel, but instead of blaming themselves for their misfortune, they were blaming God saying, “What kind of loving God would allow this to happen.” In Ezekiel 33:17 NKJV the Lord said, “Yet the children of your people say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ But it is their way which is not fair!” The Lord reveals this was of their own making, and they were receiving what they caused. The Lord goes on to say, “I will judge every one of you according to his own ways.” Ezekiel 33:20b NKJV It’s reaping what we sow. Eliphaz in Job 4:8 NKJV said, “Those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same.” Hosea says, “They sow the wind, and reap the whirlwind.” Hosea 8:7 NKJV The people ignored God refusing to listen and obey His word. Instead they went and did their own thing their own way and listened to prophets telling them what they wanted to hear, and now they were reaping what they sowed. The Apostle Paul warns the same will occur in the last days. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4a NKJV Let’s be careful not to blame God when we receive the consequences for our own disobedience. “All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame. 25 But in the LORD all the descendants of Israel will be found righteous and will exult.” Isaiah 45:24b-25 NKJV
