Is it true that if we address our own issues, we can change - TopicsExpress

Is it true that if we address our own issues, we can change everything around us that seems wrong? When I think about it, this tenet is similar to the proverb from Luke 4.23: Physician, Heal Thyself. Basically, it means that our thoughts create the world around us, so we really need to attend to our own issues rather than faults we perceive in others. Psychologist Dr Hew Len turned a severely violent ward for the criminally insane to a place of love and healing through the Hawaiin practice of Ho’oponopono. Dr Len believed that everything that was wrong in the outside world – including the ward’s patients – only proved that there was something wrong within himself. His treatment involved simply reading client notes and incessantly repeating the words: I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you. These four statements are believed to override the compulsive flow of unwanted or negative thoughts and, according to Hawaiian Huna teaching, cleanse the mind and body. Dr Len’s work flies in the face of the fear in which many of us live when we are confronted with difference and/or violence. But let’s try it anyway …it’s not too hard: I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.
