Is the aim of obtaining universal suffrage to have everyone - TopicsExpress

Is the aim of obtaining universal suffrage to have everyone sharing the same opinions and holding the same positions? Is there necessarily a moral high ground? Just because we have differing opinions, no one is above the other. Why are so many people intolerant of anyone who has opposing opinions or even just people who dont have opinions or simply choose not to express themselves? I always thought the point of maintaining Hong Kongs high degree of autonomy and distinction from other Chinese cities is for it to maintain its freedoms, of speech, of choice and not to be persecuted for simply having ideas or opinions. If you think the good fight is so that only one voice shall be heard, then dont bother. The central government is already your type of government.
