Is your diet causing you metabolic damage? Find out if your diet is slowing your metabolism. For argument sake let’s take a guy and girl who has never dieted in there life! They will have a metabolic rate in which there body burns let’s say it is on average 2000 calories So your Resting Metabolic Rate(RMR) requires 2000 calories per day to live. Let’s say some one has over eaten through out there life and are in taking 3500 calories per day, there not extremely over weight, but robust. Now they want lose weight, they go from 3500 calories down to 1500 calories per day! What this will do is send your body in to shock now your body has to live off less intake then what its used to, so your body slows down its metabolic rate. (Think of it as losing a full time job and getting cut to part time –not used to a restricted income life style so you spend less to survive) Your body does the same, sure you lose weight at the start but once your body realises it’s an ongoing problem, what happens? You plateau! Your results slow down or stop. That’s when people mostly give up and they return to that old diet, of about 3500 calories. But guess what, now you’re eating that old diet but with one more down side, A slower metabolic rate then when you went on that diet, a metabolism that has been shocked/damaged. And you can guess what happens from there you gain more weight! Then you decide I need to restart that diet I never finished, and were back to the same problem each time slowing our metabolic rate. So what to do? 1) Don’t go from zero to hero! To avoid shocking your body 2) Do not starve your self!!
