Isaac Kekemeke,APC chairman in Ondo state was said to have made this statement: If Ekitis want development and not the kind of cosmetic things happening in Ondo, they should vote APC in this months gubernatorial election My take: Can we ask Kekemeke which cosmetics things are happening in Ondo? That expedient cliche has been exposed long ago when it has been discovered that the APC governed states have been keying into the Mimiko vision for rapid development to be seen as responsive to their people. Those Mimiko projects and initiatives these pseudo progressives describe with such infantile words as cosmetic unsustainable or local government duties are what they now claim to be progressive and developmental in their states. *Just last month, Osun started the free school bus shuttle and gave it a different name. Yet when Mimiko started it,it was cosmetic. *Osun has since been building what it named model schools but check them out, theyre not different from Mimikos mega schools in scope and appearance. * Oyo, Osun,Ekiti and Ogun have been building markets. Ajimobi even named some of his markets as neighborhood markets like Mimikos. Hes also building car parks and even put water fountain inside a roundabout at Total Garden Ibadan. * Ekiti building Automart which was first built by Mimiko in this country. * Ajimobi followed Mimikos footsteps in the health sector by starting his own Abiye safe motherhood scheme modeled after Mimikos,he was only wise by half by renaming his own scheme Abiyamo...lo * The much derided Kaadi Igbeayo scheme is now in operation in Lagos while Oguns is in progress. * Ekitis urban renewal drive has a striking similarity with that of Ondo in appearance and execution. About N2b was said to have been spent on Ado-Ekiti alone. In fact, you might not know the difference between the major roads of Akure and some roads in Ado-Ekiti as the streetlights are not only being generator powered but are exact replicas of Ondos. * Few months after Mimiko inaugurated the Tricycle Ambulance for pregnant rural women,Oyo started its own. Kano and some other states in the North followed suit. But can they beat the master? Imagine they cant even create parks on their roads like Iroko has been doing in the main business districts of the state capital. You wont find a Park like Democracy Park anywhere except a meaningless park like Olajoku park at Gbongan junction now reptile infested or Fayemis new campaign ground (beautiful looking though) but it wont accommodate car parks as a secondary use. You wont find modern Bus stops in any of their state capitals except Lagos and neither will you find beautiful new roundabouts except those ones along ring road and other places built by military administrations. Please, help me tell Kekemeke that The Great Iroko leads, others follow.
