Isaiah 40:1-5; Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lords hand double for all her sins. A voice cries: In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. (Isaiah 40:1-5, ESV) We all need comfort. Our world is full of conflict, trouble, pain and sorrow. When these things trouble us we want comfort. God speaks tenderly to us. He says our conflict is over. We are no longer guilty. Our sin is forgiven. Get ready! God is coming to take care of it. God comes in Jesus Christ. He comes in a manger in Bethlehem. He comes in dusty sandals on a dusty road. He comes in preaching and teaching. He comes in living and dying. He comes in rising from the dead. Jesus Christ is coming again. When he does, all the dead will rise to new life. We will stand in perfect bodies on a perfect earth. There will be no more conflict, trouble, pain and sorrow. Get ready! God is coming again in Jesus. Prepare! Let us pray: Heavenly Father, help me to be ready for the coming of Jesus, forgive my sin in Jesus name. Amen!!!!
