Islam, as a people, I respect their awesome reverence for their god, the way they treat people in their own faith, how they are united as a global Umma (muslim community), and how many truly seek to live a life honoring their god, their families, and their community. However, Islam as an ideology (religious, political, and cultural) is dangerous. The proponets of Islam face some very interesting contradictions no one seems to point out (I will just mention 3): If Islamic terrorists arent the face of Islam, then the Prophet Muhammad isnt the face of Islam. A man who murdered 800 jewish men in one day, who routinely beheaded his enemies and call for his followers to do the same, who demanded people convert at the end of his sword, etc. (all of this in the koran, hadiths, and islamic history). This poses a great contradiction because the Prophet is actually the perfect example of what a Muslim should be like. They read his hadiths in an attempt to learn how to model the prophet better and better. A Muslim cannot be a muslim without modeling the prophets every thought, deed, and speech. If the opponents of Islam are racists and their opposition is fueld by racism, then Islam itself is a racial ideology which says that the world can never be happy unless all non-muslims are purged from it and the race of Islam reigns supreme. Islam (obviously not a race) would then have to be a severely racist ideology, but then this would just undermine the whole peace thing they go for. If the oppressive laws in Muslim countries where people are killed for converting from Islam, women killed for being raped, where houses of any other faith are prohibited from being built, where teaching anything other than islam is illegal, etc., are not representative of Islam, then the Prophets laws and the laws under the various caliphates which arose after his death arent representative of Islam either. Then this just means 1000+ yrs of islamic tradition and history is not truly Muslim. Islam has many redeemable qualities. The problem is that as a worldview, it cant coexist with other worldviews, it must dominate them.
