Israel Day 1: Lihi Lapid Facebook/LihiLapidEnglish Last night me and my five kids currently in Israel had dinner with Lihi Lapid. Lihi is a highly respected Israeli columnist and best-selling author. She is also the wife of Yair Lapid, Israel’s Finance Minister and head of Yesh Atid, Israel’s second largest political party. She may also just be Israel’s best-kept female secret. A woman of humanity, grace, education, and humility, her books on relationships – like “Woman of Valor” – are strikingly and incredibly honest and deeply insightful about male-female interactions. At dinner she shared movingly about what it’s like to be the wife of a cabinet minister making such monumental life and death decisions in time of war. Lihi was visibly changed by the war, the constant visits to soldier’s families houses of mourning, cooking for the soldiers on the Gaza border, offering comfort and support to large numbers. Her own son is just about to enlist. I told her that I believe she would make a global impact on the airwaves as an eloquent, human, and compelling spokesperson for Israel. She is obviously very well known in Israel and I predict she will be much more so around the world as well. An incredible woman. We originally met through our mutual publisher Ilan Greenfield of Gefen books, who published “Kosher Lust,” at Limmud FSU in New Jersey.
