It absolutely amazes me that we continue to hear about schools trying to cut costs on the news and how this room filled with people just cant figure out how to do it. Well, lets start with that room! They talk about consolidating classes and taking away programs to free up funds for use in the classroom.... If we consolidated board seats and removed some of these same seats I can see a very quick way to free up some funds for use in the classrooms. Evidentially the board cant figure it out anyway so what do we need them for. As a matter of fact I spent a few minutes tonight and checked the school boards staff page for Augusta county and out of the 47 staff listed there only about 5 have any type of description of what they do for our children when you click on their name, not even the superintendent himself, Dr. Chuck Bishop. Sounds to me like there is a good place to start cutting those costs!
