It doesnt seem like the week is complete without a Mark Driscoll update, even though it is somewhat painful to have to continue to write about him. If he would only do the right thing, and step down. Anyway, the update is that Mark Driscoll is aggressively rebooting his brand. (Driscoll once infamously stated that he was the brand for Mars Hill.....pretty cheeky, huh, for a pastor of a church, of whom CHRIST is the cornerstone.) Driscoll earned a degree in Communications at Washington State U, and he is putting that degree to effective use once again. I counted ten instances of the term Pastor Mark in his short Christmas message. This means that he is attempting to brand himself in the publics mind as a pastor, even though he has disqualified himself from the office of pastor. A man who is documented to have been spiritually abusive, a plagiarist and a liar is unfit to shepherd souls. He is also fleeing church discipline. But given his degree, he does know how to brand, and he is now re-branding. Hes a pure marketing creature. Or in more Bibley terms, hes a straight up Jude false teacher.
