It has been a most trying and emotional week. Cheryl and Makayla - TopicsExpress

It has been a most trying and emotional week. Cheryl and Makayla Horner, mother and daughter, were laid to rest on Thursday. There were more than 2000 visitors on Wednesday and more on Thursday morning. I would guess 400-500 people attended the funeral and a majority of them went to the cemetery. The funeral procession, lead by 17 fire trucks, rescue units, and ambulances, was probably 2 miles long for the approx. 5 mile trip to the cemetery. During the graveside service, Cheryl and Makayla were given a very emotional "last call" by the Pennsboro Fire Department. Larry is holding his own. No one can expect any more than that of him right now. It was a very difficult time for Gene as he is/was very close to both Larry and Makayla. Makayla just adored Gene and the feeling was mutual. I tried to be there for Larry and Gene as much as I could. Chelsea continues to hold her own. She is failing day by day. We keep praying for the same type of miracle we were given two years, but our optimism is waning. She has been a survivor for all of her 16 1/2 years. She has been with us her entire life and was our major source of support when the other dog we had at the time, Timber, died. Because of my emotional state and my near miss last week, my PTSD is in flare-up and is just one more thing with which I have to deal. Because the one person, on whom I thought I would always be able to depend, recently chose to no longer be in my life, it has made this last week a particularly lonely and difficult time for me and that loss just finally hit me today. Gene and I appreciate all the kind words and concern from everyone. I apologize to those who were concerned because I shut down my page, but I needed the time to focus on those who needed me the most.
