It has been nearly a month since many of us marched together as part of Ferguson October. Now, we must prepare for the announcement of the grand jury’s decision in the case against Darren Wilson. We already know that the justice system has never worked on behalf of Black people. When Governor Jay Nixon left the case in the hands of Prosecutor Bob McCulloch, he sent a message that Mike Brown’s killing was “business as usual.†We must send a message: this ends now. Please join us this weekend for two mass direct actions trainings where we will prepare, train and plan our response. Bring as many people are you can. The direct action trainings are: •Friday, November 7, 5:30-8:30PM at 2929 S. Jefferson on the southside of St. Louis. •Saturday, November 8, 12-3PM at 9950 Glen Owen Drive at Greater St. Mark’s Church in Dellwood. From 3-5PM on Saturday, there will also be workshops and trainings on being a street medic, how to copwatch, how to livestream and more. When the announcement comes, we are encouraging people to go to the Justice Center in Clayton and the Ferguson Police Department to protest. Safe spaces and sanctuaries are being set up now and we’ll be releasing more information about that shortly. We will continue to provide jail support to those arrested. And the need for street medics and legal observers is greater than ever. Please come to these trainings to plug into these roles. Our city is at the forefront of a nationwide movement for justice. People will pour into the streets. Whatever happens, let us be clear -- this is a reflection of a broken system. The police are already gearing up their response. More than ever, we need to be together and prepare. See you this weekend, Montague Simmons, chair of Organization for Black Struggle
