It has been really important to me to find and get connected to a group of people who are working on getting as spiritually grounded as I strive to be. With what is going on in our world today, I find it a serious necessity! So I have been praying for months asking God to help connect me to some people who have the same interests and goals as I do in regards to spirituality. I met a guy in the beginning of October who was inspired to create this group, I like to consider it a continuation or an extension of the original 12 steps. Its called 12After12. I am going to quote from 12After 12 An Empowerment and Asset of Character 12-Step Program literature. The 12After12 is another set of steps that helps is to continue our already existing 12 step journey. These steps give us new tools for spiritual growth and understanding. With this approach we are finding we view ourselves and the world around us with increasing clarity and positivity. By focusing on empowerment and our assets of character, we are able to enhance our spiritual experience and further develop our capabilities. The steps and principles of the 12After12 help us gain insight into the truth of our character. We find new ways of being helpful and of service. This practice accentuates the core value inherent to each and every human being. We see now that each of us is in possession of an abundance of beautiful attributes and legitimate capabilities. Through a compassionate reinterpretation of our essential selves, we begin to understand who we really are. This last paragraph taken from the 12After12 Preamble. So, to me my prayers were answered! Praise God! So I am involved in this now, trying to get others involved by starting up a weekly meeting and hopefully soon taking this group into treatment facilities in the Twin Cities area. I love the steps and the principles of this group. Not that I am weak in my spirituality or that my relationship with God isnt strong, cause I am strong spiritually and my relationship is strong, I want to have a core group of people who I meet with on a continuous basis to help enhance my spiritual growth. Our potential as humans are so great that our restoration process will always be ongoing, never ending.
