It has occurred to me that I was a bit harsh on the subject of pawn brokers yesterday. There are many honest pawn shop owners that work with their customers to try and let them keep their merchandise. Without pawn shops most of those people would have no place to turn to. I just get pissed of at shows like Pawnstars. It paints a very inaccurate picture of that business and has nothing to do with reality. Business of any sort is hard and there are many predators. My good friend Jeff Brown made a great point about payday loan companies. Now there is a reality show, watch the poor single mother of three get a loan of $450 and try and pay it back with up to 600% interest. Thats what these animals charge, Im not kidding. Watch as the lovable lout, Chum, gets her to sign a legal document where she will pay $2500 for a $450 loan. It happens every day and its legal. The season finale will be when she turns the gas on and lays down with her children for the Big Sleep because her check has been garnisheed for the next five years. Thats reality folks. I hate the payday loan companies. The owners should be rousted out of their comfortable beds at dawn and fed to hyenas.
