It has saddened me today to hear that our community has lost a beautiful person, Lisa Empanada is gone. I think she was an incredibly bright face enlightening our community and an incredibly enjoyable person to be around. For various reasons I was not able to get to know Lisa as well as I would have liked but her reputation definitely preceded her. She was a vivacious person and made friends easily all the while making some very insightful observations and comments about things around her as well as in our unique community. She had that special quality that enabled her to make a new friend quickly I do remember the first night I met Lisa; it was a dark and stormy night in Harrisburg and I was finally able to make it out of Stocks well after midnight. The parking area was around the corner and down a short, dark alley that was somewhat imposing for that hour of the morning. I was making a beeline for my car when out of the blue I hear my name called. It was Lisa. She had left Stocks and followed me out into the alley, a little disconcerting at first but she wanted to talk. Stocks isn’t exactly the best place to try to establish a new relationship (a little too loud) and chat about everything and anything. But I could tell she was eager to commiserate and make a new friend. She wanted to talk and get to know me a little bit. It was a wonderful if not scary moment. I could tell she wanted to be a friend. She felt it was important to make the connection with me even if it was in such an imposing and potentially dangerous place. So, there we were, a couple of T-girls, in a dark alley on a drizzly Saturday night, with hangovers looming, having a nice casual conversation. I definitely wish it had been within my means to be able to get out with her more and have some fun. I would have also liked to have gotten to know her a lot better. I would have been a much better person if I had. Our community has lost a very warm and caring person. Good night, dear heart, Good night, good night.
