It is a great thing, Veterans Day. the true cost of war and or deployments just doesnt take a toll on the veteran, yet I beg to say it is easier on the veteran as we usually have things taking our time and things to occupy us in battle or overseas. I speak for experience on BOTH sides. As an EX-spouse of a veteran, it was far more difficult to be left alone with three kids to raise on my own while still keeping up with everyday life. These deployments and times away breaks apart so many families in divorce, I have yet to see a study done on the effects of the FAMILIES of the said vet, on the children on the spouse etc.. without your spouse around the VET or the Spouse can make irrational decisions because they are away from each other, not thinking about the consequences of these choices. Whether it be cheating or money issues so many things can break apart those marriages and families, so this veterans day please keep in mind the children that have been effected by deployments of more than 1 always it seems. How many of these children now only have one parent raising them because of the man and woman being apart for so long... Then that spouse that relies on the veterans that make the better income, after supporting that VET , moving around thirty times here and there they can never really get a good career, and when the divorce comes BANG they all of a sudden have to fil that income gap and how hard that is after they have never really put in time to a company to start making a better check, so basically they are starting over but now instead of starting over by themselves they have kids that are depending on them as well, So the bottom line is our vets return injured sometimes and ptsd then affects the family as well, the cost of war is FAR greater then just deployed soldiers. so to all military connected folks, I wish you all a happy veterans day!
