It is a known fact that several over-ambitious leaders in ruling BJP are not happy to see Narendra Modi as Prime Minister and his confident colleague Amit Shah as party-President. There had been open talks in media-circles about some 160-club in BJP which desired BJP not to get absolute majority so that a person other than Narender Modi be crowned as country’s Prime Minister. Whole episode of unceremonious sacking of an admittedly honest officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi even by BJP-spokesperson on TV news-channels from post of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on alleged administrative grounds has given high level of discredit for Narender Modi government which was voted so enthusiastically by people to power for ensuring a clean government. While Prime Minister calls himself as Prime Servant of the people, arrogant party-spokesperson of BJP term even discussion on the episode as ‘Gundagardi’ indirectly calling complete media highlighting the episode as ‘Gunda’! Documents and website of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) prove that CVC was are of his appointment as CVO at AIIMS, and arguments now put by Union Health Minister for the controversial sack stand nowhere. Nobody can doubt honesty of Dr Harshvardhan who perhaps is the only unique example in political community who himself proved himself clean by a voluntary DNA test without even any complaint lodged against him when a maid leveled some charges against him. Main culprit in sacking of Sanjiv Chaturvedi are those who were able to persuade Union Health Minister about his alleged ‘wrong’ appointment, evidently to save those who were exposed by Sanjiv Chaturvedi for wrong-doings at AIIMS. If at all there may be some deficiency in rules, then these can be modified to ensure reinstatement of Sanjiv Chaturvedi as CVO at AIIMS. Problem with Prime Minister is that if he reverses the decision, then he will be blamed to do so under media-pressure. And if tolerates the sacking, then his image for a clean government will be dented. Best course of action is not only to reinstate Sanjiv Chaturvedi as CVO at AIIMS, but also to sack person having persuaded his removal, from the party-post and warn the party-spokesperson having termed discussion as ‘Gundagardi’ directing him to tender an unconditional apology on his such arrogant words.
