It is disappointing that Cllr Evans did not research his subject and get his facts right before putting pen to paper in an attempt to discredit the Campaign for Democracy in Mid Devon. His efforts to make “an informed and balanced argument” have actually achieved just the opposite. We are all for open and honest debate on the subject, but resorting to misleading and false statements is not appropriate, particularly for a councillor. We would therefore wish to comment on and correct many of his statements ... please see comments below for corrections (NB - Spelling and grammar in Cllr Evans quotes are reproduced as published - we didnt think we should have to correct his spelling as well!)
