It is important to have a job. It is so important that we have an entire industry centered around finding a job for people. Another one that revolves solely around making sure that people who officially do not have jobs do not actually have one, or at least have a proper reason for not having one. It is so important that we will stubbornly cling to inefficient production models, and processes, that are prone mistakes, possibly serious ones, just to ensure that the person currently preoccupied with that busywork can still do their busywork. Because its important for that person to have a job! We all know this. No job, no money. No money, no consumption. No consumption, no growth. No growth, less jobs. Less Jobs, someone lost their job. Rinse and repeat. It is important to have a job. Its more important that a taxi driver retains his job than it is to prevent traffic accidents. Automated cars will ruin us. It is important to have a job. Its more important that the clerk on the other side of the phoneline has the opportunity to mistype some of your information into the system than it is for you to have the opporunity to get it right the first time and not deal with the fallout. Web forms will ruin us. It is important to have a job. Its more important that you take a break from your job, to go to the bank during office hours, than you going to the bank at any given time. Automated banking will ruin us. It is important to have a job. Its so important to have a job that the new bubble industry in the world is the one that pretends that there are enough jobs to go around for everyone. Because its important to have a job. Without one, youre ruined. . . . Its important to have a system. But the system cant be a rationale unto itself or the system could ruin us for the sake of itself.
