It is interesting to note that one of the titles for the god Dionysus/Dionysos is He of the Trees. This is formally rendered Dionysus Dendrites (den-dry-tees). In the book Prolegomena to the Study of Greek Religion scholar Jane Harrison writes: ...but Dionysos is Dendrites, Tree-god, and a plant-god in a far wider sense. He is the god of the fig tree; he is Kissos, god of ivy; he is Anthios, god of all blossoming things; he is Phytalmios, god of growth. In ABW we call the masculine aspect of Divinity - He of the Deep Wooded Places. An in-depth study of Dionysus reveals many symbolisms shared with the ABW concept.
