“It is not too late to obtain an Absentee Ballot” Expanded Walk-in Absentee Voting Tonight until 7 p.m. and Saturday at City of Lansing South Washington Elections Unit Lansing – “It is not too late to get an absentee ballot, but you need to act quickly,” said Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope as his office is scheduled for expanded absentee walk-in voting hours at the South Washington Office Complex Election Unit. The office will stay open later on Wednesday, October 29 until 7 p.m. and on Saturday, November 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Open Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. thirty days prior to each election, the South Washington Office Complex Election Unit has free parking and is located on CATA route #2. Located at 2500 S. Washington the most convenient entrance is in the back of the building. The last day for absentee ballots to be mailed out is Saturday, November 1, and all ballots need to be received via mail or dropped off at City Hall or the South Washington by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4 Election Night. Lansing voters can also come to the City Clerk’s Office on the 9th floor of City Hall during regular business hours, Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to complete the absentee voter application and ballots until 4 p.m. on Monday, November 3. Regardless of location, voters must bring approved picture identification to expedite the process in order to vote in person. Ballots can only be provided to the person who is voting. However, ballots can be delivered by an immediate family member or a person residing in the same household to either the City Hall Lobby secure drop box or the South Washington Office Complex Drop Box. Another option is to call the Lansing City Clerk’s Office at 517-483-4131 to have an absentee application mailed or download the form at lansingmi.gov/Elections.
