It is often said that a big part of the battle to overcome the barriers faced by disabled people has to do with changing hearts and minds. The idea is to replace old-style thinking with a very different perspective. The aim is to help people to see the person first, not the disability. That helps remove much of the fear and anxiety that people have about disability, and can clarify what changes need to be made in society. In order to make our employees understand of being disabled and support the respective aim above, our JIT plant in Bursa/Turkey organized a Blue Sky event in June in cooperation with “The Association of Global Disabled Entrepreneurs (Küresel Girişimci Engelliler Derneği). More than 30 of our employees experienced being blind and walking disabled on a designated track under the coordination and mentorship of disabled representatives of the respective association. Our Blue Sky Coordination team also worked together to construct the metal bridge and other materials which were used during the organization and the respective association will be able to use these materials and equipment in different future organizations in different locations.
