It is one heck of a statement of faith to insist that there is no God, that there are no realities beyond the material, and that our poor senses operating at our particular scale and at our specific pace truly discern the only reality. One cannot prove that there is no spirit, no divine, no God. What breathtaking self-satisfaction, what willful self-delusion to arrogate unto ourselves the ability to discern the limits of existence. If we cant see it, prove it, and master it, then it must not be real. I have never understood the appeal of unbelief. If one is going to engage in a leap of faith, why not believe in the unprovable existence of a God of love and mercy, rather than believing in a random and meaningless existence whose only reward is that no matter how much we may waste our lives, we cannot be judged because there is nothing to judge us. As with so many things, Shakespeare had it right. There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamed of in your philosophies.
