It is perfectly healthy for human beings to need each other. To form strong connections and bonds, to come to rely on one another for physical and emotional security. There is such a movement toward being enough for yourself and while its good to be whole as possible on your own, the fact is that humans are a tribal people. They evolved in packs where their lives constantly depended on one another. You are not an island. Not even an island of love. That is a denialist notion that you dont NEED anyone. An indirect insulation from disappointment. If we spent more of our time and meditation on how to rely on each other and be reliable, how to trust and co-depend HEALTHILY while being true to ourselves, wed find ourselves whole. There is a balance there, and it isnt transient, it is lasting. Just something I was thinking about because there are so many flavors of running away these days. But of all the cultural feeds... pop, spiritual, corp marketing, so many lifestyle recommendations... are all saying the same thing. Be your own, be ok alone, dont get attached, move on, be single, be free, flow away... Funny that meditations from pure sources are saying the same thing as Pepsi, with different wording. Dont buy it. We need each other. We need to be reliable and relied on. We need to be whole and happy within ourselves AND within our tribe. And to have a tribe! We used to literally live and move in groups, now we live alone or with only one family or a couple roomates. It is literally unnatural. And we pay for it in insecurity and chaos in our relationships, friendships, and families. (Note: This is more common in the US than in a lot of nations of the world. Its part of Americanization.) Something to think about.
