It is really sad to see people still fighting along party lines on the social media, mirroring the confrontation that is taking place on the constitution avenue. It is also sad to see that giving ones perspective has been deemed equivalent to mud-slinging, name-calling, filthy language and personally attacking each others perspective or person in rhetoric, including but not limited to you are crazy, insane, laanat ho un per, parhay likhay jahil and worse. This manner of discourse is shameful all round, and indicates the death of persuasion with respect and arguments/justifications. - Loss of even one civilian life is to be condemned, it doesnt matter whether you support the victims party or not, and it doesnt matter whether the killing took place in Model Town, Constitution Avenue or the PTV station. The State is responsible for its lack of seriousness in appeasing the protestors on their constitutional demands, and for not preparing its police forces to handle the mob in a non-violent way, particularly in ensuring that no lives are or serious injuries are inflicted. (The problem is also deeply rooted in the way we abuse our institution- like the police under democracy and dictatorship has been used for political ends (crackdowns, crushing protests etc) and protocol duties etc) - Damage to the public property or defying the jurisdictions set by the city administration will only lead to a violent confrontation. In this regard, the leadership of these protests is responsible for inciting their people to march forward, despite the warnings from the interior ministry and the police, of waving funeral shrouds and giving false concepts of shahadat, of not respecting the presence of women and children before making this decision. - Inviting the COAS to take over is untenable. Apart from the fact the army is constitutionally entrusted with the challenging role of defending the borders (primarily), how does an intervention or dictatorship solve all the problems (of corruption, inefficiency in the judicial system and bureaucracy, poverty, inequality, illiteracy) is inexplicable to me, apart from of course appeasing egos. If nothing else, can we remember the 12th May 2007- the day we witnessed 42 dead on the streets, countless injured and indiscriminate property damage (FIRs?). -We are the people of Pakistan, we will keep on working towards an ideal mode of governance- if it takes years of patience and forbearance, and enlightening people without hurting their sensitivities, then so be it- but every step (successful or unsuccessful) would be in the right direction, and the cause will be more important than the leaders. And we will do it iA and then it wont be selective; every zalim leader would have to pay or leave this country. (Mayoosi kufr hai) Badal Chuka Hai Buhat AhleDard Ka Dastoor Nishate` Wasl Halal wo Azabe Hijr Haram Changed are the rules of those who struggle against oppression, Only the pleasure of attainment is permitted, Forbidden is the persistent trial of struggle. I hope that people who are neither N supporters or PTI/PAT supporters would come forward to diffuse this polarization of hatred among the people- because this is the fall of the people, and not just of some political leadership.
