It is sad how many are trying to take away our religious freedoms. It seems to be a general consensus that we are supposed to be protected from religion. Several interest groups and organizations, such as Freedom from Religion and the like, have been popping up to reinforce this idea and totally abolish any religion in our country. Unfortunately they are wrong. This part our Constitution (1st Amendment) was not written for the purpose of protecting us in that manner. Knowing our history prior to the drafting of this very important document is critical in understanding why this section was even included. For those of you who dont know here is what it actually says: religioustolerance.org/amend_1.htm That gives us all freedoms not to have to worship in a way that the state mandates. This is freedom for all religions (not from), Jewish, Muslim, Mormons, Christians and others. OR to choose not to worship God.
