It is said that things happen for a reason. Back in April, I was rehearsing for a play. It was such a great script and so superbly presented that any time I was not required to be on stage, I would scurry out to the audience to watch my fellow cast mates perform. On one such occassion as I was racing to my seat, I tripped in the darkness and took a pretty bad fall. Of course, in my embarrassment, I said that I was fine - but truly, the pain took my breath away. I banged up my right knee fairly well, but what was odd is that both legs swelled from knees to toes.... as fate would have it, I was having my annual exam a week or so later and my gynecologist was concerned with the swelling (so much so that my ankles disappeared) and redness in my legs. He insisted I see a doctor that very same day. Well, several weeks and numerous specialists and tests later, it was determined to be traumatic vasculitis. One of the specialists happened to be a cardiologist who discovered an issue with my heart (that I didnt even know I had) which caused my heart to work much harder than it should. He prescribed a medication and told me to come back in a few weeks. I saw him yesterday afternoon. He said (in laymans terms) that when he had seen me before, my heart was running; and now it is walking. I feel better than i have in a long time. In fact, i feel great! So I guess the fall happened for a reason. Oh, and my legs are no longer swollen. Win-win!
