It is so interesting how people say cattle ranching is not a positive money maker. Beef is the basic staple in the American diet, you can live with out a house or a car. I know I have done this because I was seriously injured while serving in the US Navy. This has taught me something very specific, we can survive without a lot of the conveniences in life. But there is 2 things the human body cannot survive without, food and water! I prefer the beef to be free of steroids and hormones that do not break down after the animal is butchered. There is a shortage of beef nationwide and one call secured a potential contract that is huge by anyones standards for an over seas supplier. Not profitable, I think the younger generation, (and I dont mean everyone of them) but most are just plain lazy and they dont want to work this hard. Working out at the gym and watching the world go by their windows. Not me, I love the great outdoors and would rather work myself raggedy ranching than have a pot of gold dropped in my lap. I earn my daily pay the hard way and I am proud to know that I am feeding my nation. Ranchers are the back bone of this country! Where do you think that super Jack or BIG Boss Burger came from, the meat fairy? Somebody raised that beef for you! Cattle Ranchers provide America with their very sustenance. Maybe it aint the money, but being proud of your days work feels good, it takes heart to be a Cattle Rancher and I am proud to be one!
