It is sometimes hard to believe how far things have come since I - TopicsExpress

It is sometimes hard to believe how far things have come since I came back to Campbell in 2007. When I started cleaning up, cutting grass and boarding up units I did not have a CLUE as to exactly what the goal was, or how to accomplish it. Now seven years later we have a core area that is looking better and better each year, an awesome non profit company with a solid plan that can absolutely be implemented, a Board of Directors that anyone would be proud and honored to serve with, and a chance to actually make a major change in our community for the better. The announcement of Ms. Katelyn Gould coming out in August to paint a mural for us is without a doubt the most monumental thing to happen to ISHPC since it was formed just three short years ago. There are no words I can say to convey how much it means to us all to be so fortunate. I do however refer to Katelyn as an atomic bomb of awesomeness :-) that has dropped on us and we are so grateful for her. Local businesses and benefactors are already getting on board to make this the most incredible event to hit our city in years. A temporary pavilion is going to be built for the unveiling ceremony that will have a stage for the bands that will be playing, as well as other activities that will be taking place throughout the day and evening. Our great thanks to Iron City Wood Products who have agreed to provide us with whatever pallets we will need to make this temporary structure, which we hope to move to a permanent location in the future. Pallets will also surround the work area with a tarp roof to insure the mural will be able to be painted regardless of weather conditions. This young lady and her friend are sacrificing their vacation time to do this, so we are going to be absolutely sure they will be able to complete their work. If it were not for Iron City we would be at quite a loss as to how we would be building all of this. For anyone interested in placing an ad in the book we are putting together for this event, or in donating or volunteering in any way, please contact us ASAP. This is a very monumental thing and it will take a lot of effort and planning to pull it all off, but our crew is absolutely up for the challenge. Thank you all for your kind words, your support, and your belief in this site and its importance to our community. As Americans in a country that is just a little over 200 years old, we do not have a lot of history in comparison with the rest of the world, but the history we do have is quite incredible. We built what set the stage for every modern apartment complex on earth. If that is not worth saving, what is. And thanks again to Katelyn, an incredibly talented, caring young lady that truly loves her home town. It is an honor to work with her and her crew to make this happen. Best Regards Tim Sokoloff President/Chairman ISHPC
