It is that time of season where we as a football family can come together and share Holiday Cheer with others. Our DBHS Football program is reaching out to all of our football families, as we did last year, to make the holidays special for the 4th Grade Students of Ninth Street School. At the JV/Varsity banquet on 12/14/14, there will be a display of 23 letters from the 4th grade students of Ninth Street Elementary School, in which they are writing to Santa about themselves and a few wishes they would like to see come true. That is where we come in with our generous holiday spirit!! At the banquet you can adopt a student and fulfill their wishes. Please read through your adopted students Holiday Letter. In the body of the letter they will let you know two to three gifts they are wishing for this holiday season. Feel free to gift one or all of their wishes. All gifts need to be wrapped, tagged and numbered (found on the upper left corner of your envelope). Please bring all gifts to Coach Marcus Hughes by Thursday 12/18/13 no later than 3:00pm. All gifts to the Ninth Street School will be delivered personally by DBHS Staff members. Your generosity will make a young student very happy. They are going to be so excited! Ninth Street Elementary has some interesting stats: · Approximately one hundred kids attending 9th Street “live” at the nearby Union Rescue Mission. · One hundred percent of the population is poor enough to qualify for free and reduced lunch. In comparison, 7% percent of DBHS’ population qualifies. · Many of the families whose children attend 9th Street don’t own cars so just getting their kids to school can often be a hardship. · Ninth Street has a 43% mobility or transiency rate. This is a measure of the percentage of students who transfer in and out of the school. Happy Holidays! DBHS Football Program
