It is torture. It is not only wrong, but it is disgusting. Period. The fact that it is ineffective should be apparent, yet beside the real point. Lets at least be honest with ourselves, that this nation is not exceptional anymore, if in fact it ever was. This is not an anomaly or a single blight on an otherwise sterling record in defense of international (and domestic) human rights in this country. We are not a nation built on the rule of law, nor do we operate in respect of it. :: There is no excuse to turn a blind eye, and yet less of an excuse to defend it, and the fact that there is no shortage of people in the country who will do both (and that many of those people call themselves leaders or journalists) is a sad reflection of the character of a nation.
