It is true. There is an old saying that states: If you cannot have the one you love, then love the one you are with. Though this may be an interesting proposition, it is easier said than done. And the heart will always remind you of that. This is a truth I would like to share and dedicate to one of my dearest friends. When speaking to her it is as if there were no years that separate our today from yesterday. It is as if, for us, time has stood still and provided another moment to reflect on life, to cry about the things we have missed, to laugh about silly things that are not important and a chance to reflect on this thing called love. To you Susan and to you, my friends, I explain my heart with these words... When you love someone the thought of them causes butterflies in the stomach, the heart races a bit faster and the pulse begins to rush at its own pace and all you want to do is be with them. When you think about that special person, they, no doubt, may be thinking about you... Wondering what you are doing, what you are thinking. In this cosmic universal mist, two souls may touch, they embrace, they hold one another. This is to love and is to know there are times when we touch without touching. No words are needed or exchanged for love is its own language. It is the one, single piece of truth that is spoken with the soul, that is shared in its purest form by one heart with another. It is from this elixir that love of every sort is born. (Touching) What is this? A hand upon my face, stroking my cheek? Tracing the outline of my smile, for I do smile. Hold back thy shyness, Lady. A touch is a touch; no more, no less. Tis’ either conjured by affection or aggression I innocently confess. I find no offense in your advance woman of mine, or to the feel of warm feminine hands on my face, soft and gentle with angelic grace. Slender fingers gently guided across my lips…I bite, you jest, tis’ our playfulness. Yet it is touching nonetheless, proof of true loves gentleness. I hold thy head to my chest and thank God in silence for such tenderness in the way we touch, when we touch without touching... ~ Tonny K. Brown
