It is two weeks today that we received a call that my daughter Toni and her husband Dustin were mauled by their dog of 4 years, they had him since he was 8 weeks old. He was a rescue dog that they were told was a lab, however, he just kept growing into a 123 lb. labordane. He was a constant companion of the family. For some unknown reason, the consensus is that he had a brain tumor and just snapped. It was only a few minutes earlier that they were all cuddling like he used to love to do. This attack was brutal. And being in the postal service for 42 years, I have seen my share of injuries from dog attacks, however, nothing like this. I will not go into the gory details only I will say that Dustin had his ear ripped off and his hand bitten so hard that broke some bones, plus various other bites on his body. Toni was bitten on various parts of her body also, with the most serious injuries to her bicep and her thigh which resulted while he was trying to drag her from the bedroom. Dustin is a plumber and Toni a massage therapist. Both will be out of work for an extended length of time as they will both need to have reconstruction surgeries.
