It is undeniable in our area of the country, in this day and age, that being secular still isnt accepted. It is also undeniable that the term atheist holds a negative stigma, for no reason other than that it has been referred to as a poisonous title by religious generations before us. Myself, and my peers, we are part of an intellectual revolution, we are part of a progressive, scientific, and technologically advancing generation. I know many of us were born into religion, and we were always taught, if you doubt your religious beliefs you should seek enlightenment through them in order to strengthen our faith in it. I offer you a different route, if you have found yourself doubting your faith, doubting the credibility of your beliefs, challenge them, dont be afraid to call out the illegitimacy and hypocrisy of it. If you doubt the faith you were born into or claim, or youre only practicing this faith out of fear that youll be treated differently, dont be afraid, you are not alone. There are hundreds of thousands of secular minded people that hide in the closet and claim faith because they are afraid of how being an atheist will construe their image, when we should pride ourselves on our intellectualism.
