It is with great pleasure and a little sadness that I announce that as of August 18 I will no longer be chair of African American Studies after two great years of service. I decided to step down and hand the reigns to my dear colleague Erica Ball. I am proud of the work I have done and I will continue to be a presence in AFAM to help rebuild this great department. Thank you Beatriz Tapia, Sonia Velez, Frank Perez, Jose M Zamora, my CHIC colleagues especially María C. Malagón, Eliza Noh, my dean, VPSA, provost and President who gave me support. And to the CHIC, AFAM and ASAM students who gave me animo. Now back to chairing CHIC full time!!!
