It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our matriarch, Gilda Pambianchi. We love you and will miss you dearly. Gilda (Santini) Pambianchi, 91, of Ridgefield, passed away on Wednesday evening, October 15, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. Gilda was wife of the late Armando “Matty” Pambianchi. Mrs. Pambianchi was born on April 13, 1923 in Ridgefield, daughter of Joseph and Leanna (Travaglini) Santini. She attended Ridgefield Schools and was a graduate of Ridgefield High School. A lifelong resident of Ridgefield, Mrs. Pambianchi was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. She was also a member of the St. Mary Holy Rosary Society, the Italian American Ladies Mutual Aid Society of Ridgefield and Ridgefield Founders Hall. She volunteered her time with Regional Hospice and Home Care as well as the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association. As a young lady, she worked at The Elms Inn and Bissell Drug Store. While she was a homemaker she also worked for the family business, Pamby Motors Inc. Gilda was an avid Yankee fan and cheered on all of the UConn basketball teams. She could be spotted on the sidelines of her grandchildren’s sporting events and in the audiences of their dance recitals. In more recent years, Gilda and her friends liked to attend the CHIRP Concerts in Ballard Park and had a Tuesday Night Coffee Club. Gilda adored her family and loved being surrounded by them, especially when the entire family shared Sunday dinners together. Mrs. Pambianchi is survived by her three sons; John and his wife Eileen, Michael and his wife Mary Lou and Fred and his wife Betsy. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Tim and his wife Amanda, Andy and his wife Amy, Ryan and his wife Patty, Emily, Michelle and her husband Dan, Matt and his wife Lisa, Rebecca and Nick, as well as three great grandchildren; Natalie, Charlie and Haddie, and a sister Giselda Torcellini. In addition to her husband Armando and her parents, Mrs. Pambianchi was predeceased by a brother, Joseph G. Santini and two sisters, Marjorie Tarsi and Florinda Santini. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Michael K. Jones on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10:15 am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 2 to 6 pm at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Pambianchi’s memory can be made to the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association: 90 East Ridge Road; Ridgefield, CT 06877 or to the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department: 6 Catoonah Street; Ridgefield, CT 06877.
