It is with regret that we note the passing of Jeane Galvin 1928 - 2014 Jeanne Galvin passed away on April 10, 2014. She was born Feb. 12, 1928 to Henry J & Mildred Galvin of Belmont, MA. She leaves her sister Claire Kirby & husband Jerry of Chatham, MA, her sister-in-law Helen Galvin of Milford, MA, nieces and nephews Jacqueline Keady (George) of Longmeadow, Donald Kirby (Liz) of Portland, ME, Jeanne Kirby Rapaport (David) of St. Paul, MN and Geri Balducci of Milford, MA and many grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Henry J. Galvin, Jr. of Milford, MA. She also leaves many devoted ex-students from Rocky Hill Jr. & Sr. High Schools especially Connie and Fran and her Best Pal Doris Nitti. Jeanne graduated from Sargent College in 1949 beginning her teaching career in Rocky Hill with innovative and ground breaking Physical Education programs. She retired in 1987 to spend time on her beloved Cape Cod. Several years ago she received the John McVicar Distinguished Service Award as she was inducted into the Rocky Hill Athletic Hall of Fame. Jeanne loved Rocky Hill often commenting on how blessed she was to teach so many wonderful people in such a wonderful town. Her sunny disposition, untiring energy and quick Irish wit will be sorely missed. Her funeral will begin at Sacred Heart Church, 56 Hartford Ave. Wethersfield at 10 am on April 24 followed by interment at Rose Hill Memorial Park. Friends are asked to meet in the parking lot to be escorted to her gravesite.
