It never fails... The last package - and its been pushed all the way to the back of the top shelf. Here I am, 53, swarmed (yes, somehow *swarmed*) by two children, stretching and reaching. No, no - nope. Not gonna cut it. Maybe I can knock it towards me with something? Nope. Nothing around that will reach back far enough. Can I climb up there? Probably. Should I? Probably not. Uh... Taller. I need to be taller. Tall guy. Find someone tall. *looking around frantically* Hey - excuse me, sir! Can you please help me with something? The young guy I flagged down seems excited to be of assistance - and yet, at the same time seems slightly disappointed that it isnt for something more interesting than reaching for the last 8-pack of Berry Blend V8 Splash. He hands it to me, smiling, and makes some witty comment about the ease of the task before he walks away. I hear him talking to a guy on the phone about what transpired. He seems amused, but at the same time - I kinda think I made his day. Really. Biggest grin Ive seen all day. This isnt the first time this has happened for me. Sometimes, all people need is an opportunity to feel needed - some place where they can contribute. Independence is wonderful, but always keep in mind... Maybe sometimes, someone else needs to be needed. Dont be afraid to ask for help, and be ready to return the favor when the opportunity comes around. =)
