It seems like yesterday when we were covered in oil and paint and saw dust while building what would be our labor of love for the next three years. A dream come true; finally a dance home for my beautiful BreakEFX family. A space free of judgement, barriers and drama. An environment built with bare hands ready to also foster the independent world of artists and dreamers growing around us. This picture is a photo of my oil staind bare feet after working long hours in the warehouse helping the boys scrap, hammer, chisel, paint and install what would become The Be Life. Tonight, its finally started to hit home that our studio doors have come to a permanent close and the torch has successfully been lit & passed to the next generation of dance community who will no doubt, carry on the visions and aspirations that we started & believed in with all of our hearts. While a majority of my being is calm with content in the transition & eagerly ready to move forward in new endeavors... there is a small lingering sadness that the closure is finally real. The BE Life not only created a home for the BFX crew but it was truly the launching pad for some of todays top Colorado companies & crews. Our floor - in all its flaws - was ground zero of many many dreams. But more importantly to me, it was a catalyst that brought my dance heart back to life, like a soulful fibulator. It was my safe haven to start teaching again after 6 years of retirement, it was a comfort zone for some of my dearest long time students to return to the floor & return to where their feet belonged. With warm glowing lights, an open garage door and the deep trance of music... we found our breath again, together. Hopefully others memories are as strong as mine and that BEs short-lived legacy will long live in hearts. Thank you to all who swooned us with love, who graced our floor and who believed in us during our journey. Buona notte e arrivederci.
