It sounds like the Dwele brothers have been listening to James Murphys remix for David Bowies Love Is Lost which begins with applause, then slowly mutates into a rhythm which has been created with a loop from the clapping. Or maybe they were inspired by the intro of Tom Tom Clubs Wordy Rappinghood which also begins with a typewriter rhythm loop.
