It was 42 years ago today that God sent Doris and me a pecious gift. It was on this day 42 years ago that our son Paul was born! God allowed us to enjoy him for 31 years. It was on Good Friday, 2004, that our Paul went home to be with the Lord after 25 years of battling a brain tumor and all the complications caused by the tumor. We still miss him, but rejoice that he suffers no more and is with our and his Savior! As I thought of this day and the death of our son, I was reminded of David and the occasion of the death of his child as recorded in 2 Samuel 12: 15-23. After the death of Davids son, David: (1) Washed himself; 2Sam 12:20 That is David prepared himself for the future! There is no greater loss, than the loss of a child! I have said many times, we never get OVER the death of a child, but we do, by the grace of God, get THROUGH it!! Life goes on, and so must we. David also, (2) Went to the house of the Lord and worshipped! That is, David expressed his continued faith in his God and ackowledged Gods soveriegn will in the situation. We do not always understand the ways of God, but we can always trust His heart! God is GOOD all the time, even in the valleys of life! David also declares he (3) Will see his son one day! 2 Sam 12:23 David states, I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me. Death may seem so final, however seperation is but for a while for those who know the Lord as thier Savior! So today, to our Paul we wish you a happy birthday and it want be long before we will be together, never to be seperated again! The comfort of the truths of this passage have blessed me and I trust will bless you today! God bless and have a great day!!
